The melodic traditions of Turkomen ar combined with non-eastern music influences by Capital of Turkmenistan. With its mixture of such Midriff Eastern instruments as serp, nagara, taragat and dutar and western classical music instruments including fiddle, viola and violoncello, the radical creates a sound that recalls the cinematic music of United Arab Republic and Republic of India.
Centered about pianissimo squeeze box player Kurban Kurbanov and vocalist Atabai Tsharykuliev, Capital of Turkmenistan takes their identify from their site of seed, the cony Kapital metropolis of Turkmenistan, placed in the shortcoming plains of western Turkistan nigh the foothills of the Elburz Mountains.
Ashkhabad's debut album, "City Of Love", released in 1993, united Turkomen musicians including Khekberdy Allamuradov (serp, dep and nagara), Sabir Rizaer (clarinet, percussion, soprano sax, serp and nagara), Gassan Mamedov (fiddle) and Bernd von Ostrowski (bass, acoustic bass) and London-based musicians including David DeFries (flugelhorn), Caroline LaVello (cello), Jacelyn Pook (genus Viola) and Sonia Slang (monkey). Ocean liner notes for the album were written by Peter Gabriel.
